Shaiha wins USC Quran competition

Shaiha wins the 23rd USC Quran Competition.

Fathimath Shaiha Fahmy has been crowned the “Ujaalaa Noor” of the 23rd Union Sports Club (USC) Quran Competition, an annual competition held in memory of the late Noorannahaar Zakariyya of AA. Mathiveri.

The Mathiveri-based NGO USC has been holding the competition for 23 years. Though initially opened just for Mathiveri, it was opened to participants nationwide in recent years.

An official from USC told Sun on Tuesday that unlike previous years, this year’s competition was held in three rounds.

20 participants were selected from the audition round. The number was filtered to six during the second round. Zainab Bint Mohamed came third, Maryam Naisha Mansoor came second, while Shaiha came first and was crowned the “Ujaalaa Noor”.

Naisha was selected from among this year's participants for an Umrah trip.

USC thanked its partners for their support in ensuring a successful competition.
