Judge Adam Mohamed appointed Criminal Court’s acting chief judge

Criminal Court Judge Adam Mohamed who was appointed the court’s acting chief judge.

Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has decided to appoint Criminal Court Judge Adam Mohamed as the court’s acting chief judge.

The decision was taken by JSC during a convening on Monday following the promotion of former Chief Judge Ahmed Shakeel to the High Court.

Judge Adam has previously taken over as the acting chief Judge in 2020, when then-acting Chief Judge Ali Rasheed Hussain was promoted to Supreme Court.

During Monday’s convening, JSC also decided to appoint GA. Villingili Magistrate Court’s Magistrate Azeem Hassan as the a acting-Chief Magistrate of Gaafu Alifu judicial constituency. Magistrate Azeem was appointed to the post subsequent to former Chief Magistrate of Gaafu Alifu judicial constituency Ibrahim Ihsaan being sworn in as Criminal Court judge.

Two additional judges apart of Ihasaan also took oath as Criminal Court judges on Monday. They are former legal officer at Criminal Court, Aminath Azlifa and former public prosecutor at the Prosecutor General’s Office Ibrahim Zihunee.
