JSC announces recruitment for three Criminal Court judges; applications open until July 16

The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has announced the recruitment of three judges for the Criminal Court.

According to the JSC notice, Criminal Court judges receive a monthly salary of MVR 37,700, along with an allowance of MVR 22,300 and medical insurance.

Requirements for the position include a first degree in Islamic Sharia, Law, or a combined Law and Sharia programme, as well as at least three years of experience as a judge, lawyer, or both.

The JSC said applications will remain open until 16 July. Applicants must submit their applications through the JSC’s online portal and also deliver a hard copy to the JSC counter before the deadline.

The vacancies follow the appointment of former Criminal Court Judge Ismail Shafeeu to the High Court and the removal of Judge Hussain Faiz Rashad. The Criminal Court currently has 12 judges.
