6.8 kg of drugs found by Police

Money and narcotics found in police operations.

In a special operation by Maldives Police Service six kilograms of drugs and around a million rufiyaa was found. This operation was carried out on December 22, 2022.

Narcotics totalling 6.8 kg and almost a million rufiyaa were found from special counter-narcotics operations held in 10 areas of Male’ and Hulhumale’. This was confirmed by a tweet from Police Commissioner Mohamed Hameed.

The commissioner said in his tweet that this operation was done to disrupt drug trafficking and peddling by a well-known crime group.

In addition to this operation, the Police have held other anti-narcotics operations in the past. From these operations in the past four years alone, 1.6 tonnes of narcotics have been found, which brings the total of drugs destroyed, with drugs found in the past, to 1.9 tonnes.

 

Police commissioner Hameed recently said that the biggest importance in police operations is given to finding and destroying narcotics. Under this, they have kept an eye on organised drug traffickers in the past 4 years.
