President of Maldives Development Alliance (MDA) and the Parliament representative of Dh. Meedhoo constituency MP Ahmed Siyam Mohamed on Saturday called on the relevant government authorities to work on eliminating obstacles faced by youth.

In a statement released on National Youth Day, Siyam went on to note that youth are at the heart of society and that they are the ones standing hand in hand to build society.

“As youth are the strong workers running the “engine for the Maldivian economy”, youth must strive to be brave and responsible in all situations.  The youth also need to prioritize their love for the nation and be loyal to the country in everything.”

At a time when the country is marking Youth Day, Siyam called on the relevant government authorities to work on eliminating the obstacles faced by youth.

He especially stressed that while thousands of youths who are caught up in the drug epidemic are begging for treatment, all need to work together in reintegrating them into society. He added that this was something that needed to be done immediately.

Additionally, the MDP calls on youth to seek out employment, to become financially strengthened.

Stating the country has been brought to where it is due to a lot of hard work done by our forefathers, and so, the responsibility now falls on the youth to work on taking the nation to the next level.

Furthermore, he urged all youth to become individuals who pay care and attention to their religious obligations, to ensure Islam remains as is within the nation.

National Day of Youth is officially marked annually on October 22, since the year 2019.
