Ooredoo has been conferred the President’s Tourism Gold Award in recognition of its service to the Maldivian tourism industry.

The award was presented by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih to Ooredoo Maldives’ CEO Khalid Al-Hamadi at the Tourism Golden Year Gala Evening held at Kurumba Maldives on Monday evening to celebrate 50 years of tourism in Maldives.

Ooredoo Maldives has played an important role in promoting Maldives as a tourist destination since its establishment 17 years back.

Some of its valuable contributions over the years include the Digital Resort App, a single window for travelers to engage with resorts effortlessly, be it prior to, during or after their stay.

In 2020, Ooredoo collaborated with the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) to launch the Visit Maldives Now campaign. During the campaign, Ooredoo promoted Maldives in its various platforms, reaching a world-wide customer base of over 117 million.

Under the campaign, Ooredoo held a five-month promotion which allowed people who shared pictures and videos of Maldives to win all-expenses paid stay at a Maldivian guesthouse.

Ooredoo continues to collaborate with its partners in the tourism industry to promote and develop the industry.
