ADK Hospital has brought in the latest model of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) machine - 3T MRI system MAGNETOM Lumina.

The machine valued at USD 3 million was brought on Thursday as per ADK.

Additionally, they revealed that it took over 13 hours to transport the machine from Velana International Airport (VIA) to the hospital.

Speaking with Sun, the Managing Director of ADK Ahmed Afaal said that this was the first machine of this standard brought to Maldives.

“The images taken from this machine will be clearer than others, and scan time will also be less.”

Moreover, for those who struggle with taking MRI scans, this machine allows patients to be sedated while the images are taken.

The 3 Tesla MRI uses powerful magnets that produce a 3-tesla magnetic field, which is thrice as powerful as those in conventional high-field scanners and 15 times stronger than low-field or open scanners. Hence, a much cleaner and more complete image can be obtained.

ADK said that with the addition of this machine, Maldivian health care will improve to a new level and attain much progress.
