Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO) revealed plans to expand the capacity of the ice plant in Gdh. Gadhdhoo.

In a press statement released by MIFCO, it was stated that the current 25-ton ice plant will be upgraded to a 50 ton one, and that work was underway to commence the project.

“Under this project, in addition to the ice plant, a 100-ton ice storage will also be developed,” the statement read.

The project is part of the government’s efforts to increase the amount of ice provided, as well as ease arrangements of ice availability for fishermen.

MIFCO assured that once work is complete, fishermen in the area will have easy access to ice.
