BML urges caution in making financial transactions

BML has asked customers be cautions when making financial transections.

Bank of Maldives (BML) has urged customers to be cautious, and not to go through with financial transactions if there are any doubts about the legitimacy of it.

According to the national bank, there has been an increase in the number of complaints of receiving fraud calls under different names and asking to make transections via BML's mobile application.

BML revealed that customers have been receiving calls from those feigning to be different goods and service providers. This is in addition to reaching out to customers after gaining access to social media pages belonging to businesses or creating fake pages and trying to scam their customers.

The bank further highlighted that those making the calls speak in a very convincing manner, hence urging customers not to go through with payments prior to receiving products on any orders that do not seem legitimate.

Additionally, BML advised not to attend to unknown callers asking for money or to share personal information such as bank account details, internet bank details and card details.

BML has issued warnings to customers on various occasions and stressed the fact that the bank would not on any circumstance contact customers through mobile phone numbers asking for personal details.
