Physical classes have resumed at all schools situated in Addu City.

Holding physical classes in schools at Addu City was temporarily ceased on August 28 – subsequent to the city being brought under monitoring mechanisms in addition to the enforcement of curfew hours in the city.

Owing to the increasing time gap since the studies of students had come to a halt as well as the growing concerns of the parents – Education Ministry had permitted to resume physical classes in Addu City schools in adherence to a guideline stipulated by the Health Protection Agency.

In a statement made by Addu City Council, they noted that the COVID-19 task force in the city had assessed the present situation on the city –  following which it was decided that the curfew hours announced at the city will be extended despite physical classes resuming with safety measures in place.

A total of nine individuals tested positive for COVID-19 from Addu City yesterday – increasing the number of active cases to 224.
