Yellow alert for torrential rain in southern Maldives

Maldives Meteorological Service has issued yellow alert for islands in southern Maldives, warning of torrential rain and thunderstorms.

The yellow alert is in effect from 01:00 pm to 05:00 pm this Tuesday, for the region from L. Atoll to Addu City.

Maldives Meteorological Service forecasts the region will be affected by torrential rain, thunderstorms and gust wind of 45 miles per hour.

Seas are expected to be rough.

Meanwhile, a white alert is also in effect from 01:00 pm to 06:00 pm this Tuesday, for the region from R. Atoll to Th. Atoll.

Maldives Meteorological Service forecasts the region will be affected by heavy rain, thunderstorms and gust wind of 40 miles per hour.

Maldives Meteorological Service forecasts a large part of Maldives will be affected by rainy weather over the course of the next five days, as the Hulhangu (South West) Monsoon nears.

Seafarers have been advised to take precautions.
