Air Vistara launches Male’-Mumbai scheduled flights

Indian airline Air Vistara has launched direct scheduled flights between Male’ City and Mumbai.

Air Vistara is operating three weekly flights between Male’ and Mumbai under the air travel bubble agreement between Maldives and India.

The flights will be held on Sundays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. The fare for a two-way trip is between USD 244 to USD 648.

Air Vistara is a joint venture of Tata Sons Private Limited and Singapore Airlines Limited (SIA).

The airline will be using its A320neo aircraft its Male-Mumbai flights.

Air Vistara has previously only been operating charter flights to Male’ under the air travel bubble agreement, but decided to expand its operations in face of rising demand from Indian travelers.

Four more Indian airlines operate direct flights between Maldives and Indian cities; GoAir, SpiceJet, IndiGo, and Air India.

India is currently the top source market for tourist arrivals to Maldives. 62,960 Indian tourists visited Maldives last year, and over 45,600 have visited Maldives so far this year.
