COVID-19 patient at Tree Top removed from ventilator support

National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) has announced that a COVID-19 patient connected with a ventilator at Tree Top Hospital has improved enough to be taken off the ventilator support.

The individual was identified as a migrant and was that one of the initial missing seven that authorities had been searching for. Five of the seven have so far been found, while two remain missing.

Authorities had been searching for the migrant worker when they managed to identify him at the hospital.

Currently, the country has 1106 active cases. The majority of the cases in the country have occurred in the migrant population in Male’ City.

So far more than 560 Bangladeshi nationals have tested positive for the virus in the Maldives. More than 300 locals have also tested positive along with 104 Indian nationals. 

The Greater Male’ Region has been under lockdown and full curfew since April 15, when the capital identified its first infection.
