Shops which fail to impose preventive measures will have permit revoked

Economic Ministry, on Sunday, warned that shops issued permit to sell essentials by Maldives Police Service amid the lockdown on the Greater Male’ Region will have their permit revoked if they fail to impose mandatory preventive measures against the spread of COVID-19.

Economic Ministry has announced that shops with permit to open during the lockdown must impose four measures.

As such, shops are now required establish the maximum number of customers who may be permitted inside the premises at any one time, based on the size of the premises, and display a sign indicating the maximum capacity so it is visible from outside.

The shop’s staff is required to have their mouth and nose covered with a mask and their hands covered with gloves during work hours.

Shops must not have any other persons working inside the premises, expect for those who have been issued permit by Maldives Police Service.

And the shops must also be open during official open hours.

Economic Ministry has instructed permit holders to impose the measures, and has warned that failure to impose the measures will be met with revocation of permits.

Maldives Police Service, too, recently announced that it had noticed that several shop owners issued permit by the service continued to have their shops closed. The police warned they will take action against such parties.
