Ventilator utilized for virus patient at Tree Top Hospital

National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) has stated that a COVID-19 patient at Tree Top Hospital is being treated with a ventilator.

Speaking in a press conference tonight, NEOC medical officer Dr. Ibrahim Afzal stated that the individual was a foreigner. Currently, there are nine patients admitted at the hospital, says Dr. Afzal. Six of these individuals are Maldivians while the remaining three are foreigners. 

Regarding the patients in the DH11 facility of Dharumavantha Hospital, Dr. Afzal stated that there are currently three patients at the facility. Two male patients are being treated with ventilators while an 80-year old female virus patient is also admitted that the facility.

The Maldives has now confirmed 836 cases of COVID-19. So far it has recorded three deaths from the virus, while NEOC announced that another patient had made a full recovery from the virus. The number of recoveries currently stands at 30. 

Tree Top Hospital was designated as a COVID-19 treatment facility for government use on May 1. The Hospital had entered into an agreement with the government in order to assist the country with the situation with COVID-19.
