Monitoring mechanisms on two islands in N. Atoll have been lifted by the government.

The islands are N. Holhudhoo and Henbadhoo. In a press conference tonight, the National Emergency Operations Center spokesperson Mabrouq Azeez stated that the islands have been returned to normal.

The islands were placed under the mechanisms in connection with a positive case of COVID-19 identified on the Amaazu Boat. The boat had traveled to several islands in the north of Maldives on April 15.

The current islands under monitoring mechanisms are:

  • Male' City
  • K. Thulusdhoo
  • Sh. Narudhoo
  • Sh. Maaungoodhoo
  • Sh. Milandhoo
  • Sh. Feevah
  • Sh. Funadhoo
  • H. A. Thakandhoo
  • N. Manadhoo

The Maldives has now confirmed 618 cases of COVID-19 with two deaths. 20 individuals have also made recoveries after being infected with the virus.
