Health Protection Agency (HPA) has stated that it had only ordered for the closure of cafés and restaurants in the Male’ city area for in house dining.

The statement by HPA comes after the Addu city council moved to impose the closure of cafés and restaurants of the city during night time. The restriction does not apply to medical clinics and pharmacies. Addu city mayor Abdulla Sodiq stated earlier today that the decision came after discussions with the Director-General of Public Health Maimoona Aboobakuru.

HPA tonight tweeted that the agency had not instructed any such closures in other regions of the country other than the Male’ area. The tweets also read that the agency had not instructed changes to service hours in other locations to any councils in the country.

Addu city council had ordered that such services are to be closed from 18:00 in the evening. Service hours are from 6:00 to 18:00 according to the announcement by the council. Delivery services can be conducted after 18:00 but have to stopped from 22:00 onwards in the city south of the country.

The HPA instrcuted the closure of cafes and restaurants in the Male' area as part of precautionary measures against the spread of Covid-19 in the country.
