Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF), on Thursday, announced it has made contact with Alamas, a fishing boat carrying five people which had been missing for four days.
The fishing boat had been reported missing to MNDF at 3:20 pm on Wednesday, following lack of communication with the boat since 9:50 am on Sunday, when it had been headed towards V. Atoll.
MNDF spokesperson, Major Ibrahim Azim told Sun on Thursday morning that the authorities had now established contact with the boat, and that it was headed towards Male’ City.
“Contact was made with the fishing boat at approximately 9:50 am this morning,” he said.
Azim said that according to the captain, the boat was off the coast of V. Rakeedhoo, and that all five people onboard the boat were in good health.
