The police, on Wednesday, rescued a male tourist who attempted to make a risky journey between K. Thulusdhoo and K. Hinmafushi on a Stand Up Paddle board.

The man had left Thulusdhoo on a SUP board at approximately 5:45 pm.

The police were alerted to it by concerned locals who estimated he would not make it across the six miles of water which separated Thulusdhoo and Hinmafushi until long after the sun set, heightening the danger.

According to the police, it managed to find the man safe and sound in the waters off Hinmafushi before anything unfortunate happened.

He has taken to Hinmafushi on a police vessel.

The police said it was conducting a further investigation into the case and strengthening safety and security measures for tourists in collaboration with guesthouses and water sports centers.
