MDP to revoke Madheeha’s candidacy over interview

Madheeha Abdulla is seen being awarded her candidacy for the MDP primary in G. A Kanduhulhudhoo for the local council elections scheduled to be held in April of 2020. Social media has gone rife with calls to cancel the candidacy Madheeha after an interview with "Sun" where she defended family members who have been accused of molesting a toddler in G. A Kanduhulhudhoo.

MDP’s disciplinary action committee has decided to revoke the candidacy of Madheeha Abdulla, a candidate in the party primaries for G.A Kanduhulhudhoo for the upcoming local council elections.

A committee member assured to “Sun” that Madheeha’s candidacy has been canceled.

Madheeha received a strong backlash from the public after an interview with “Sun” where she vehemently defended family members of hers who are accused of molesting a two-year-old child in the island. Madheeha is the sister of one of the accused.

Madheeha Abdulla had vehemently defended her family members in an interview with “Sun” and described the allegations as a conspiracy. She even went as far as to call the information spread against her family “an act of terrorism”.

These words of hers had led a large number of MDP members to call for her candidacy to be revoked and led to a meeting of the disciplinary committee yesterday.
