The Judicial Service Commission has begun a disciplinary proceeding against Criminal Court judge Ahmed Hailam.

The proceedings sparked from a cartoon judge Hailam posted in the Criminal Court’s recreation club’s Viber group to convey greetings of Victory Day. The cartoon reportedly showed President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, Speaker of Parliament Mohamed Nasheed chained along with the main instigators of the failed coup of November 3, 1988.

The chain is held by the hero of November 3 Shaheed Hussain Adam and reads that “the dignity has been snatched” (loosely translated from Dhivehi).
