A government school that can teach 750 students will be established in the building that was previously the Male’ English School and will start teaching next year.
The new school is expected to address the issue of space faced in changing the school sessions to one session. No school in Male’ city currently teaches in one session and the Education Minister recently noted that new schools need to be built in order to achieve this.
MVR 20.2 million has been allocated in the budget for the new school.
The building housed some of the faculties of Maldives National University before it was ordered to be vacated last month.
