The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has opened applications for the post of Chief Judicial Administrator. The Chief Judicial Administrator is the chief authority responsible for formulating the administrative structure of all courts under the judiciary and overseeing the employment of administrative staff, in consultation with the Chief Administrator or Chief Administrative Officer of each court.

The vacancy was announced following the resignation of Amjad Musthafa. Amjad resigned on April 20 this year without stating a reason for his departure. He was preceded in the post by Aishath Rizna, who resigned in September 2024, citing the lack of an environment to work with the JSC within the legal framework, policies and procedures of the Department of Judicial Administration.

The Chief Judicial Administrator serves as the administrative head of the judiciary. Responsibilities include the appointment, promotion, administrative action and dismissal of administrative staff in the courts, as well as planning and conducting training and refresher programs for judges, members of the Judicial Service Commission, employees of the Commission and the judiciary, in accordance with JSC regulations.

The post carries a five‑year term. The basic salary is MVR 30,000, with an executive allowance of MVR 27,235 and a phone allowance of MVR 2,000.
