Maldivian Airlines has postponed its Umrah flight from Male' to Jeddah due to security concerns arising from the ongoing unrest in the Middle East.

The decision was announced in a joint press release issued by Maldives Hajj Corporation and Maldivian, stating that the airline is closely monitoring the rapidly changing security situation in the region, including Saudi Arabia.

According to the statement, the situation in the Middle East has deteriorated significantly over the past 24 hours, creating conditions that pose risks to passenger safety. The agencies said the use of Jeddah’s airspace has been severely restricted following advisories issued by international air traffic authorities. They also noted that many international airlines have suspended flights to Saudi Arabia due to the worsening security environment.

The Hajj Corporation and Maldivian apologized for the inconvenience caused to pilgrims, stressing that ensuring passenger safety and security remains their top priority. The Hajj Corporation assured that once the situation stabilizes and travel safety is guaranteed, all pilgrims who have already paid will be able to perform Umrah at no additional cost.

Both agencies said they will continue to assist affected passengers and will announce a new travel date once regional conditions improve and safe passage is confirmed.
