Two injured in Hulhumale’ accident remain on life support; two discharged

Two people injured in a dangerous motorcycle accident in Hulhumale’ on early Wednesday remain on life support, says the Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).

The dangerous collision took place at around 02:55 am Wednesday on the main road of Hulhumale’ Phase II when three people on a single motorcycle who were driving recklessly to flee the police crashed into another motorcycle with two people.

The accident resulted in injuries to all five people, who were initially treated at the Hulhumale’ Hospital before getting transferred to IGMH in Male’ City.

A spokesperson from IGMH told Sun on Saturday that three people remain hospitalized.

This includes two people who sustained critical injuries and remain on ventilator support.

Meanwhile, two of the three people who were being treated at the ward have now been discharged after treatment.

The spokesperson declined to disclose any details.

The police investigation uncovered the motorcycle with three people were driving the wrong way on a one-way street when it collided with the second motorcycle. The driver was unlicensed, and the motorcycle is believed to have been stolen.

The two people they crashed into are brothers, who the family reported sustained serious injuries.

The accident is under further investigation by the police.
