The event was organized by the Health Protection Agency (HPA), with participation from WHO, MV Swimming and Life Saving Training School, Maldives Red Crescent, MNDF, Hulhumale' Hospital, and the Maldives Police Service.
According to HPA, the activities included practical drills on drowning rescue and first aid, aimed at familiarizing the public, especially children, with how to respond in emergency situations. Information was also provided on key safety measures parents should follow when children go to the beach or swimming pools.
Organizers noted that drowning can be prevented if immediate precautions are taken and safety rules are followed. Authorities advised parents to ensure children learn to swim at an early age, pay attention to weather warnings, and always visit the beach with a responsible adult.
