Malaysia PM Anwar Ibrahim to visit Maldives next week

Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim is scheduled to visit the Maldives next week.

A senior government official confirmed the upcoming visit to Sun on Tuesday.

According to the source, PM Anwar will be arriving on Monday and leaving the next day.

However, chief government spokesperson Mohamed Hussain Shareef (Mundhu) has not responded to text messages seeking confirmation of the visit.

The upcoming visit comes with PM Anwar set to attend the BRICS Summit in India’s New Delhi from Friday to Sunday.

Maldivian President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu had made a four-day state visit to Malaysia back in April at PM Anwar’s invitation.

The visit led to exchange of several cooperation agreements between the two countries in areas such as healthcare, sports, and tourism.
