President conveys condolences to former Malaysian PM Mahathir following the death of his wife

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has sent a message of condolence to the family of Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali, the wife of former Malaysian Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

In his message, the President noted that she was among Malaysia’s first female doctors and made significant contributions to maternal health and the development of women in rural communities.

He said her lifelong service would be remembered with gratitude and respect, especially her work to advance gender equality and strengthen family welfare through various national initiatives.

On behalf of the Government and the people of the Maldives, the President extended condolences to the former Prime Minister and his family, and prayed for strength and patience for all those grieving her loss.

He also prayed for Almighty Allah to accept her good deeds and grant her the highest rank of Paradise.

Dr Siti Hasmah passed away at the age of 100. Her funeral was held in Putrajaya, Malaysia.
