Abdulla Faiz, MIFCO's Chairman and a member of the Board of Directors, appointed September 1, 2026.
The Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company Limited (MIFCO) has appointed Abdulla Faiz as its Chairman and a member of the Board of Directors.
The Privatisation and Corporatisation Board (PCB) confirmed Faiz’s appointment as the new chair of the state-owned fish company.
Faiz brings more than 30 years of experience in developing the business and tourism sectors. He holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Australian Institute of Business.
Faiz has previously held senior positions in several major state-owned companies. He was appointed Chairman of the Maldives Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) on 13 February 2019 and served until the end of his tenure last week.
He has also served as Chairman of the Board of the State Trading Organization (STO).
Throughout his long career, Faiz has worked in both state and private sector companies. His roles include Managing Director of ADK Trade and Shipping, Director to the Chairman of Villa Shipping and Trading Company, and Director of Marketing and Promotions at Villa Hotels.
He has also held senior positions across the hospitality, logistics, catering and investment sectors.
Faiz has played a leading role in establishing key Maldivian business associations. He is one of the founders of the Maldives National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Maldives Traders Association, Maldives Association of Construction Industries, and the Restaurant Association of Maldives.
He has served as Secretary General of the Maldives National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and since 2001 has been a Life Member of the SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry, where he also served as Vice President.
His appointment comes amid ongoing changes to MIFCO’s leadership, following the resignation of former CEO Farhath Shaheer in April and the subsequent appointment of Mohamed Anas as CEO.
