A fisherman who went missing from a fishing vessel while bait fishing in the northern Maldives was found on the shore of an island early this morning.
According to Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) the incident, which occurred in Haa Dhaalu Atoll, was reported to the authority after 4:00am this morning.
While the Coast Guard launched a search and rescue operation, the fisherman was found on the southern beach of Hondaafushi, a resort island in Haa Dhaalu Atoll. He was located approximately two hours after the incident was reported by a group conducting a search in a dinghy.
Following his rescue, the fisherman was transported to Hanimaadhoo Health Centre for medical assessment. Citing the health centre, the MNDF said his condition is stable after receiving the necessary treatment.
The MNDF has not released any additional personal details about the individual involved in the incident.
