Hamdhan misled the public by claiming that the necessary documents have already been issued to tenants of the FDC flats, Hulhumale' North Councillor Fathimath Zahiyya (Zaya) has said.

FDC earlier stated that many residents have applied for registration forms, but the process is being delayed due to a lack of cooperation from the Male' City Council. Hamdhan said all residences in Male' and Hulhumale' require a no‑objection document from the building owner, and that such documents have already been issued to tenants of the FDC flats.

Speaking on SSTV’s Baaru Hathareh programme, Zaya said Hamdhan claimed that a building‑owner’s letter and a QR‑code verification system have now been introduced, but none of this has been officially communicated to the Male' City Council by FDC in any capacity.

She said she has not received any such letter.

Zaya said the council is a government institution, and its work is carried out strictly within the law and regulations. She said the council will always act in the most convenient and beneficial manner for the public.

“The truth is that today’s government, because MDP holds the majority in the City Council, is perturbing us so we cannot provide services to the people in their fullest form. And this is the same mockery of the people living there, because these are flats allocated by the MDP government,” Hulhumale' North Councillor Fathimath Zahiyya said.

Zaya urged the government, the Managing Director of FDC, and all relevant authorities to expedite the process and provide the City Council with the necessary information required for residents who wish to register their FDC flats.

Meanwhile, as FDC and the Male’ City Council continue to trade blame and drag out the issue, residents of the FDC flats find themselves losing valuable time, still unable to register in the homes they have already been allocated.
