The police have launched an investigation after a man stormed into a shop in Hulhumale’ on early Saturday, and threatened and assaulted the staff.
The incident was caught on CCTV cameras installed at the shop.
A video clip of the incident circulating on social media shows a long-haired man wearing a black shirt and blue jeans turn the monitor at the cash counter, and threaten the two female cashiers and two male shop workers.
He is also caught on camera slapping one of the male workers, and pushing down the monitor of the counter, before leaving the shop.
He is also caught on camera immediately re-entering the shop and straightening the monitor.
The time stamp on the CCTV footage shows the incident took place around 04:30 am.
The incident reportedly took place at a shop located at MPL Tower B, in Hulhumale’ Phase II.
A police spokesperson confirmed the incident was reported to the agency, but said they have yet to arrest a suspect.
The case is under investigation, said the spokesperson.
