Power goes out in parts of Male’

Power went out on Saturday in parts of Male’ City.

The power went out at around 11:00 am.

According to State Electric Company (STELCO), power is out in buildings located in Koarikendi Magu, Binhima Goalhi and Badifasgandu Magu.

The state utility company said the outage resulted from “an issue with an electricity cable”.

“We are working on resolving the issue and restoring electricity. We apologize for the inconvenience,” added STELCO in a post on X.

The latest incident comes with the greater Male’ area affected by multiple outages in recent weeks. This includes one in a large part of Hulhumale’ Phase II on April 25 due to damage to a high-voltage cable.

An investigation by STELCO uncovered that the original damage was concealed by road workers using tape, instead of reporting it for proper repair.
