Foreign Minister Iruthisham Adam met Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar in New Delhi on Wednesday, where the two sides discussed ways to further strengthen the long‑standing partnership between Maldives and India.
The meeting was held as part of Minister Iruthisham’s first official visit to India at the invitation of Minister Jaishankar. According to the Maldives Foreign Ministry, the ministers reviewed the close bilateral ties and agreed to deepen cooperation in key areas of mutual priority, including development, economic partnership, and regional collaboration.
Minister Iruthisham expressed appreciation for India’s continued support to the Maldives, particularly the ongoing social and economic development projects implemented through Indian grant assistance and line‑of‑credit facilities.

Following the meeting, Minister Jaishankar posted on X, saying he was pleased to welcome Iruthisham on her first official visit. He highlighted India’s Neighbourhood First policy and reaffirmed India’s commitment to supporting the Maldives’ progress and development.
Iruthisham’s visit is part of the government’s efforts to strengthen relations with neighbouring countries and enhance cooperation across multiple sectors.
