The Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO) has officially launched its ‘Fasmeeru’ brand of products in neighbouring Sri Lanka.
The brand was launched at a ceremony attended by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu.
Senior government officials, diplomats and fisheries sector representatives from both countries were present, including Minister of Fisheries, Agriculture and Ocean Resources Ahmed Shiyam, Maldives High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Masood Imad, and MIFCO Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Mohamed Anas.
Speaking at the ceremony, MIFCO CEO Mohamed Anas said the launch marks a key milestone in the company’s strategy to expand its presence in international markets. He said introducing the ‘Fasmeeru’ brand to Sri Lanka is an important step in promoting Maldivian seafood products abroad and showcasing the country’s environmentally friendly fisheries.
He added that MIFCO has always prioritised sustainable fishing practices and delivering high‑quality products to regional and global markets.

MIFCO said the ‘Fasmeeru’ products were introduced to Sri Lanka under an exclusive distribution agreement with Development Interplan Ceylon Pvt Ltd (DICL).
Under the agreement, MIFCO will supply ‘Fasmeeru’ products to Sri Lanka’s hotel, restaurant and catering sector, and also launch them in retail and wholesale markets.
MIFCO showcased the ‘Fasmeeru’ product range at Tuesday’s event, giving participants the opportunity to experience the items firsthand.
The company said it is making dedicated efforts to expand its international footprint by producing high‑quality products from sustainable fisheries.
