The Maldives was hit on Monday with a disruption to police emergency calls services, with people unable to reach dispatchers by dialing 911 or other police hotlines.
In a post on X on Monday morning, the police said the disruption was affecting the 911 emergency line as well as the hotlines 3322111 and 3322112.
It attributed the outage to a “technical issue”, without providing details.
“Our teams are actively working to resolve the issue as soon as possible,” said the police.
