Power out again in parts of Maafannu

Power has gone out again on Monday in parts of Male’ City.

The latest incident comes with the greater Male’ area affected by multiple outages in recent days. This includes one in a large part of Hulhumale’ Phase II last weekend due to damage to a high-voltage cable.

A second outage took place on Sunday night, affecting parts of the Maafannu district. The power went out at 10:50 pm, and came back at 11:04 pm.

The power went out again at around 01:30 pm Monday in parts of Maafannu district.

The State Electric Company (STELCO) announced in a post on X that the outage is affecting the area around Maafannu Madrasa.

It attributed the outage to “a technical issue.”

“We are working on identifying and resolving the issue. We apologize for the inconvenience,” added the company.

The exact cause of the latest outage is unclear at this point.
