The power outage in parts of Hulhumale’ Phase II on Saturday resulted from damage to a cable during road construction work, says State Electric Company (STELCO).
The power had gone own in multiple residential towers in the populous Hulhumale’ Phase II just before 02:00 pm.
According to STELCO, power went out in:
The state utility company initially said the outage resulted from a technical issue, but later explained that it resulted from damage to a high-voltage cable while workers were digging the ground to construct roads.
“We are working on repairing the cable and restoring electricity as soon as possible,” said STELCO.
The latest outage comes after a similar one on April 12 left parts of Hulhumale’ Phase II without power for around eight hours.
