Former State Minister Moosa Fathuhy Adam, on Monday, resigned from the Privatization and Corporatization Board (PCB), the regulatory body overseeing state-owned enterprises.
The PCB confirmed that Fathuhy submitted his resignation earlier in the day.
Speaking with Sun, PCB’s President Mohamed Anas stated that Fathuhy stepped down ahead of assuming his new role as Secretary General of the ruling People’s National Congress.
The PNC announced Fathuhy’s appointment via a Facebook post on Monday. Under the PCB’s governing regulations, individuals are prohibited from serving as board members while simultaneously holding senior leadership positions in political parties, such as Secretary General.
Fathuhy previously contested the Sh. Komandoo constituency seat in the 19th Parliament and served as a state minister at the Local Governance Ministry, which was recently dissolved.
The position of PNC Secretary General became vacant following the resignation of Muaz Haleem, State Minister at the Defense Ministy, on April 18.
In a post on X following his resignation, Muaz stated that he stepped down from his senior administrative responsibilities within the party to fully support President Mohamed Muizzu’s efforts to align party activities with public expectations and ensure effective outcomes. He added that the role requires a dedicated full-time commitment.
Muaz had been appointed as PNC Secretary General on January 13 last year, succeeding Zeenaz Adnan at the conclusion of her term.
