Bangladeshi man dies after fall from Male’ building

A Bangladeshi man who fell from the 10th floor of a building in Male’ City last week has died from injuries he sustained in the fall.

The 30-year-old man had fallen from the 10th floor of M. Beachflat House, located on Sabudheli Magu, to the adjacent building.

The incident was reported to the authorities at 06:20 pm Thursday.

The Bangladeshi man sustained serious head and facial injuries in the fall, and was rushed to the Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).

The police confirm he died on Saturday.

The Bangladeshi man had reportedly fallen as he worked to install a sunscreen net on the roof of the building. He did not have any safety equipment nor anyone to assist him.

The case, which is under further investigation by the police, renews scrutiny on workplace safety.
