The government has extended the deadline for applications for land and flats under the ‘Housing for All’ policy until the end of May, marking the second extension granted since applications opened.
The Housing Ministry announced on Monday that the extension applies to applications for flats in Male' City and for special categories under the Family Housing Programme. These include:
Applicants who were not issued flat‑receipt documents under the Veshifahi or Hiyaa projects and have not yet received their flats
Applicants under the disability category
The ministry has also extended the deadline for categories listed in the Rules for Allocating Land for Residential Purposes and the Binnveriyaa Special Scheme. This includes individuals who previously submitted joint applications under Binnveriyaa Category One and are now allowed to submit separate applications.

In addition, those who were previously ineligible for land allocation because they already held a flat under the Binnveriyaa scheme have now been given an extension to apply.
The new deadline keeps the application window open until the end of May, covering all land‑allocation categories under the Housing Programme.
The deadlines were first extended in late February, ahead of the upcoming elections on April 4. Since then, the government has made several amendments to eligibility criteria, prompting criticism that changes are being introduced as deadlines approach.
Applications for the first housing scheme under the Housing for All policy opened on January 18 last year. The government plans to allocate 7,900 flats and 15,000 land plots under the programme. Of the flats, 4,000 are designated for Male' City residents, 1,500 for non‑residents, and 2,400 for special categories.
