Housing applicants given 21 days to submit additional documents

The Housing Ministry on Wednesday gave 21 more days to applicants for land and flats in the Male' city area to submit additional documents if issues are found in their applications under the government’s Housing for All policy.

The ministry had initially given applicants seven days to submit additional documents. The deadline was extended on Wednesday.

In a post on Wednesday, the ministry said it has decided to extend the seven-day deadline to 21 days for applicants to clarify valid information through the housing portal if any contradictions are identified in the information submitted. The extended period will allow applicants to clarify discrepancies and upload relevant documents through the portal.

The verification process is currently underway, and any inconsistencies between the information provided in the application form and records obtained from government agencies and councils will be flagged through the Housing Portal.

If the information in the notice issued through the portal is incorrect or if the applicant objects, they will have seven calendar days to submit clarifications and supporting documents. Applications not rectified within the given timeframe will be deemed ineligible or incomplete, the ministry said.

According to the Housing Ministry, 58,505 applications have been submitted under the Housing for All policy, 35,930 for flats and 22,575 for land.

Under the scheme, the government will allocate 7,900 flats and 15,000 plots of 1,250 sq ft.

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has stated that the list of flat recipients will be announced within this year.
