Visit Maldives Corporation (VMC) has begun its participation at ITB Berlin 2026, one of the world’s largest travel trade fairs, showcasing the Maldives’ diverse tourism experiences as part of its global marketing push ahead of Visit Maldives Year 2027.

The fair, held from March 3–5 at Messe Berlin, features 67 Maldivian co‑exhibitors under the “Maldives… The Sunny Side of Life” banner, reflecting strong industry alignment and a unified national presence.

A key highlight of this year’s programme is the return of Maldivian Night, a curated networking event bringing together European tour operators, airline partners, travel trade executives, media and key stakeholders. The evening will also spotlight Maldivian gastronomy as part of the destination’s cultural identity.

The event is co‑hosted with the Bank of Maldives, which will introduce BML Swipe, a new digital payment solution designed to enhance convenience for visitors travelling across the Maldives. According to VMC, the initiative reflects the country’s continued investment in technology‑driven service improvements and seamless visitor experiences.

In parallel, Visit Maldives will hold an international press conference during the fair, where a major announcement outlining the Maldives’ forward‑looking tourism strategy is expected to be revealed to global media and industry stakeholders.

VMC CEO and Managing Director Ibrahim Shiuree said the corporation’s focus moving toward 2027 is to “enhance value, diversify experiences, and future‑proof the tourism sector,” noting that ITB Berlin provides a direct platform to communicate this vision to key global partners.

Europe remains one of the Maldives’ strongest markets, with Germany, Switzerland and Austria continuing to perform consistently. Visit Maldives’ targeted initiatives in these markets focus on experiential segments such as diving, wellness, family travel and sustainability‑driven tourism.

Through its expanded presence and strategic engagements at ITB Berlin 2026, Visit Maldives aims to strengthen trade relationships, increase destination visibility and reinforce the Maldives’ position as a premium, safe and sustainable island destination.
