Ooredoo’s Ramadan eSports Festival wraps up with strong participation nationwide

The Ooredoo Nation Ramadan eSports Festival 2K26 has concluded with the crowning of champions across four major gaming titles, following a vibrant closing ceremony held at the Youth Hub on Saturday evening.

The event was organised by Ooredoo Maldives in partnership with the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Information and Arts. Youth Minister Ibrahim Waheed attended as chief guest, alongside Ooredoo Maldives CEO Shadi Qawasmi and Chief Commercial Officer Hussain Niyaz.

This year’s festival featured both LAN and online formats. The EAFC and Tekken tournaments were played as LAN events at Youth Hub, while PUBG Mobile (PUBGM) and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) were held online, enabling nationwide participation.

According to Ooredoo, the tournament saw 20 EAFC players, 16 Tekken players, and 38 teams each competing in PUBGM and MLBB, showcasing strong teamwork, intense gameplay and standout individual performances.

Ooredoo said the Ramadan eSports Festival continues to highlight the rapid growth of competitive gaming in the Maldives, offering young people a platform to develop digital skills and engage in positive, community‑driven competition.

This marks the second consecutive year of the festival. Ooredoo noted that the strong participation and enthusiasm this year signal rising national interest in e‑sports and set the stage for even larger tournaments in the future.
