Male’ City Mayor Adam Azim has challenged anyone in possession of a document signed by him instructing wrongdoing to release it without delay, stressing that he would not remain in office a moment longer if such a document should exist.

Azim has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing while in office.

He added that while the Male’ City Council was previously run out of nine different office buildings, all services have now been brought under one roof during his tenure, providing significant ease to members of the general public.

Azim also said that the Male’ City Council had built a cat shelter within three short months, even though it was later taken over by the Animal Welfare Ministry.

He expressed concern that the ministry isn’t properly managing the facility.

Azim said that under his leadership, the Male’ City Council has taken the initiative to clean up different districts of Male’ such as Vilimale’, while some council members were “busy with transactions involving distribution of land to people.”

He added that he has never heard a councilor from the ruling People’s National Congress (PNC), who hold a majority in the City Council, speak about a municipal matter.

Azim said that over 30,000 drains have been cleaned and some 300 roads redeveloped as part of efforts to address flooding in the streets of Male’.

These are tangible results I have to show for my critics, he said.
