President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has appointed High Court Judge Hassan Shafeeu as a member of the Judicial Service Commission (JSC), representing the judges of the High Court.

Shafeeu, who was appointed to the High Court earlier in February, took his oath and signed the declaration of membership at the JSC in a ceremony held Monday at the President’s Office.

The oath was Supreme Court Justice Mohamed Saleem, after which President Muizzu formally presented him with his letter of appointment.

Shafeeu replaces former High Court Judge Mohamed Niyaz, who retired in December, vacating his seat at both the superior court and the JSC.
