A massive fire has broken out on a fishing boat off Kurumba Maldives, a resort located close of the Maldivian capital, Male’.
The incident was reported to the police at around 2:54 pm Saturday.
Both the police and the Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) are attending to the incident.
Photos and videos taken by witnesses show the fishing boat engulfed in flames. Some of the videos show people moving inside the boat.

According to the police, there were 15 people on board when the fire broke out.
The police said that those injured in the fire are being transported to Male’ on a boat from Kurumba.
However, the police have not disclosed how many people were injured in the incident, or the extent of their injuries.
Firefighters from the MNDF managed to control the fire by 03:39 pm.
The cause of the fire remains unclear at this point.
