Galolhu City Park is set to open this week, according to Male' Mayor Adam Azim. The mayor said the park will be inaugurated on Monday or Tuesday, marking the completion of a project that began more than a year ago.

Construction of the park officially started on December 8, 2024. In September last year, the city council announced that the park would be completed by October. However, delays pushed the timeline further, with Mayor Azim telling Sun last week that while the work would finish within January, it was difficult to give a specific date.

Speaking to Raajje TV, Azim confirmed the park would open this week.

The project cost approximately MVR 2.5 million and was funded entirely from the city council’s budget. Azim said it took about eight months to complete the park.

Galolhu City Park features a seesaw and an outdoor gym for children, along with shaded seating areas under large trees. The space is designed to be inclusive and accessible for all age groups.

The park is part of the council’s broader initiative to make Male' a safer, more comfortable, and caring city.
