Incumbent Male’ Mayor Adam Azim has appealed to re-elect him for the post, citing that he has done 10 years’ work in just one and a half years.
Speaking at the ‘Dhenves Adam Azim’ rally on Friday night, Azim vowed not to let any misconceptions arise among the public, adding that he would always clarify everything.
He emphasized that, since taking office as mayor, he has carried out a significant amount of work with a budget limited to MVR 190 million.
Azim lightheartedly commented that some assume he is nearing the end of a five-year term due to the sheer volume of accomplishments.
“Why wouldn't they, right? Because some 10 years’ worth of work has been carried out in just one and a half years,” he said.
Speaking further, Azim vowed to reignite the MDP’s spirit if elected for the next five-year term. He said he deserves to be elected because he is a leader who will devote himself to public service 24 hours a day.
Azim also clapped back at criticism over efforts he has launched to clean Male’ roads, adding they cannot speak of something he has failed to accomplish.
He added that he engages in door-to-door activities, not to boast, but to directly inquire about the state of citizens and identify needs that need to be addressed.
He affirmed that he will always prioritize his party, affirming this resolve will remain firm even in the future.
Apart from Adam Azim, MDP’s mayoral primary is contested by Ali Azim, who are both engaged in fierce campaign at the moment.
