Former vice president Faisal Naseem has inspected the progress of projects initiated by the last MDP administration in Fuvahmulah City during a visit to the city as part of MDP’s campaign visit to islands for the upcoming local council elections.
Faisal arrived at his home island, Fuvahmulah, on Saturday to campaign for the main opposition party, MDP, for the local council elections scheduled for next March. Meanwhile, a team including former Housing Minister Mohamed Aslam departed for Fuvahmulah on Saturday night to join the campaign.
An individual accompanying Faisal on the trip told Sun that Faisal met with some residents from the island yesterday and also inspected the progress of some projects initiated by the former administration.
Apart from campaign activities, Faisal is scheduled to inspect the project of additional projects initiated by the former administration in Fuvahmulah during his three-day campaign visit. They include:
Fuvahmulah is the third most populous atoll in the Maldives, with a population of approximately 11,000 people.
At present, Fuvahmulah Council comprises of seven MDP councillors.
The main opposition party is currently campaigning for the local council election following its loss in the last parliamentary election. MDP only secured 13 seats in the incumbent parliament.
